In today’s edition of People, our series dedicated to spotlighting the professionals shaping the built environment, we sit down with Dr. Tolga Aycı, Business Development Manager at Tremco CPG.
With deep expertise in façade systems, structural glazing, and sustainable construction products, Tolga brings not only technical know-how but also an infectious enthusiasm to everything he touches.
Let’s get to know the person behind the profession — his inspirations, insights, and the beliefs that drive his work.
Tolga: I'm a Business Development Manager at Tremco CPG, working across insulated glass, structural glazing, window & façade systems, fire protection, flooring, and waterproofing.
Tolga: the façade segment has always been the core of my professional life.
My expertise lies in aluminium façade systems, insulating, sealing, bonding, and firestopping. It was the materials — and their technical potential — that truly pulled me into this field and shaped my career.
Tolga: The Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. Its façade is not only visually stunning but technically complex. One of the most fascinating aspects is how acoustic performance was integrated through façade detailing. Without this precision, the venue would never achieve its crystal-clear, crisp concert acoustics.
Tolga: Construction products dedicated to sustainability — especially those enabling net-zero buildings and passive house standards. These aren’t always seen as “exciting,” but they’re absolutely essential to future-proof building envelopes.
Tolga: Enthusiasm.
It’s been the driving force throughout my career. Enthusiasm builds energy, and energy builds lasting, positive impact in the market.
Tolga: High-rise façades are often overrated. They get all the attention, but in many cases, low-rise buildings achieve more impressive envelope performance. On the flip side, sealing, bonding, insulation, and fire safety are often underrated — even though they are critical to façade reliability. These fundamentals should be at the center of design and execution discussions.
Tolga: My background is in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, so I’d probably be working on marine-related projects — maybe ship design or ocean tech research.

From high-performance materials to overlooked essentials like sealing and fire protection, Tolga reminds us that façades are more than surfaces — they’re systems that demand both passion and precision. His dedication to sustainable innovation and technical excellence continues to shape the future of building envelopes.
